The Lessmeisters are going to Bujumbura, Burundi July 6 - August 14th 2012.

Who are we going with?
The Tanbur African Aid Society (TAAS) was established on August 21, 2008 as a not for profit charitable society in the Province of Alberta, Canada. Its objectives are to recruit volunteer professional staff and to raise funds for school and other supplies.
The mission of the TAAS is to provide professional and financial resources to empower people in Tanzania and Burundi to better prepare themselves to meet the challenges of the century.English is recognized as necessary for Burundi to participate fully in international economics, communication and education. While interest in increased knowledge of English is widespread, there are very few English language teachers and even fewer well-qualified English language teachers.

About Burundi

Burundi is a small heart shaped country and is situated just south of the equator in the heart of Africa.  Its history of genocide mirrors that of Rwanda, which borders it to the north. It is one of the poorest countries in the world.  Its population totals more than 8 million and is largely rural. Approximately 450,000 people live in the capital city, Bujumbura.

What inspired us to do this trip with our family?
We have a pretty privileged life in Canada and it is easy to get caught up in the hectic pace of North American living. We have decided to take some of our time and  our money and invest it in a venture that will be life changing for us and also hope to help the people of Burundi and share God's love with them.
